We all like taking portraits so much that in the absence of a suitable subject, we may even resort to a selfie in an elevator, or worse. The problem for many, however, is that the results are usually much less impressive than expected. Is there some sort of magic that professional photographers use? Yes, you can call it magic, although we call it knowledge, and we want to share this knowledge with you.

In just one session you will learn how to take a professional level natural light portrait. If you want more, we will give you more! In two more sessions you will learn how to use continuous and flash studio lighting for truly jaw-dropping results.

Day Two

11:00am to 3:00pm

• Incandescent light. Light modifiers.
• Three-light setup. Lighting ratios.
• Studio portrait with continuous lighting.

Day Three

11:00am to 3:00pm

• Studio Flash. Light metering. Light modifiers.
• Lighting male and female subject.
• Studio portrait with flashes

Rules of engagement

• You should be reasonably comfortable with your camera. Class time is precious and spending it on figuring out how to change the shutter speed, or stop down is not practical.
• No mind-altering substances are allowed, except coffee, which will be on the house.
• You are not required to tip models, but this is good karma.
