It really does not take a genius to get someone’s attention with a “wow-factor”. Dynamic composition, radical vantage point, bright colors, and you can be sure that you have your audiences’ heads turned. Although, how long will it last? It is in our nature to want to re-experience something that was once enjoyed. It is often the case with photos, however, most of the time the result is disenchantment: the picture now seems shallow, visual effects look deliberate and primitive… Sometimes, however, opposite is true: the photo appears even more interesting than before. You not only want to see it again, but also to share the experience. Why does this happen? Is it manageable? Can it be used intentionally?

Who is it for?

This two-day workshop is for a broad photographic audience, both professionals and enthusiasts of all levels. It is for those who want their photos to be noticeable, recognizable and unforgettable. Knowledge, which you will acquire, is universal. For professionals, first and foremost, it is a competitive edge and heightened interest of magazine editors, ad agencies, etc. For amateurs it means recognition and popularity among friends, prizes in contests and thousands of likes in social media.

What will you learn?

Even though it is not a rocket science, there is no “magic button” in photography, so please do not expect super easy solutions. A great photo requires simultaneous application of several essential skills, and it is this skills that you will learn the basics of the following:

  1. What do people want? Basic laws of human interaction
    1. Identifying wants and needs
    2. Speaking common language
    3. Exceeding expectations
    4. Carrying on an intrigue
    5. Knowing your limits
  2. How and what people see? Properties of visual perception
    1. Semantic perception: Secrets of visual storytelling
    2. Emotional perception: Magic of elements of design.
    3. Subjective perception: Why you need to know what they know.
    4. Modulation of visual perception: how emotions and past experiences screw with our brains
  1. How to make people see what you want them to see
    1. The power of Innuendo
    2. The power of deception
    3. The power of absurd

Fine print

Camera is not essential. In fact, the less equipment you have with you, the better. However, if you wish to bring one, make sure that it it is not without manual controls. A camera with just one lens (preferably 50mm f/1.4)) will rid you of a constant need to make a choice what gear to use.

Be prepared to actively participate in photo shoots, on both sides of the camera. Knowing what it’s like, hugely improves communication skills with models and a crew.

Alcoholic beverages and other mind-altering substances are not allowed before and during class. It may sound like a joke, but it is not. No admission, no refunds.
